The Ties That Bind Us [SQ1]
Deep forest green and near-black holding the weight of the canopy. White breaking through with force — light through the canopy, the exposed architecture of root systems beneath the surface. Emerald and mint at the living edges, gold threading through as hidden warmth. Then the composition opens: greens softening to sage, the white net marks loosening and spreading across warm grey and taupe, periwinkle blue dispersing gently. This is a painting about the structure of connection — the branching, binding ties that hold a landscape, and the people within it, together.
The original was created with oil paints and beeswax on Belgian linen — the layering of paint and the texture of the natural linen carry through beautifully into every print. The net is a recurring motif in Dr Sarah Daly's work, and here it is at its most structural, most load-bearing. Since 2018, Dr Sarah Daly has used generative AI as a lens — a dialogue between artist and machine about what pattern reveals when it is all you allow yourself to see.
Part of the AERIAL Designer Print Series — created for interiors that want a genuine connection to the outside world. The boldest of the three series and the most versatile — the dark anchoring tones work in dramatic, gallery-style interiors, while the softer crops carry into organic and residential schemes. Each of the four prints is a crop of the one original painting, cohesive enough to specify as a set, resolved enough to stand alone. For designers building interiors with emotional weight, this series gives a room something to say.
